The hour
Be a Bird on a Branch
Every Sunday morning I take one quiet hour to look at the week I just lived before I plan the next one. I think of it as being a bird on a branch: somewhere to sit and look behind me and ahead of me, and see what I miss when I'm in the middle of doing everything.
The Weekly Ritual is that hour on paper. The first page asks what went well and what didn't, and then asks the rude one: where would you be in a year if you repeated this exact week 52 times? The Big Questions pages come next and ask what you actually want out of the week ahead, and the weekly plan gets built from those answers instead of from whatever is shouting loudest.

The order of the rite
Look back. Then look ahead.
The Ritual and The Big Questions, filled in with the handwriting blurred
I
The Ritual
Before you make another fucking list.
Set aside a time that becomes sacred to you, and put your hands inside your own life. Then look back at the week you just lived.
II
The Big Questions
Your week ahead will come from these answers.
The questions you ask every week that get you where you want to go.
III
The Brain Dump
Get it out of your head.
Everything rattling around in there goes on the page before you plan anything, then you sort it.
IV
The Weekly Plan
A somewhat reasonable plan.
Your focus for the week, then Monday through Sunday with a toad beside each day.
The toad
Eat the toad
A carved ivory toad with gold leaf
Beside every day on the plan sits a little toad, because my grandmother always told me to eat the toad, which means doing the thing you're dreading first so it stops following you around.

Inside the Ritual
What's in the set
You get ten pages and a how-to guide as a PDF download, in US Letter and in A4, and it's undated so you can start in whatever week you're in. It's made to be printed at home and written in by hand. I print mine on my Epson EcoTank, three-hole punch the pages and keep them in a binder.
Start with sheets I through IV. Sheet V explains neutral time, and IX is the phone cleanup I end my ritual with. The daily checklist and the content list are for the weeks they'd help (I don't use them myself), and Shit I Wanted but Didn't Buy is for the weeks you catch yourself about to buy something. The how-to guide walks through every page and shows a filled-in week.

Dogma
This is my subjective system, and it works really well for me. It might work for you, or you might need to make it your own, so don't treat it like gospel. Change the questions. If one doesn't fit, skip it, and if a better one shows up while you're writing, write that one down. New questions tend to spawn off of these.

If I lived this week 52 times... that's powerful!!

Started your approach this week and it's been realistic, helpful and actually fun. Thank you.

I'm not a type A (only sometimes) and doing this is hard for me, but I did it for the first time last night before the week started and it helped so much

Questions
Which paper size do I print?
Letter is for 8.5 x 11 inch paper and A4 is for 210 x 297 mm paper. You get both files, so use the one that matches your printer.
Is it dated?
No. Start in whatever week you're in and write the date and week number on the first page.
What is neutral time?
No input, no output. Allowing space for intentional boredom.
Can I type in it?
It's made for printing and writing by hand. It isn't a fillable PDF and it isn't a Notion template.
How do I print it?
On your home printer, on plain white paper, at Actual Size or 100%. Print page 1 first as a test. The how-to guide walks you through it, and it works in a binder like mine.
Do I have to print every page every week?
No. Start with sheets I through IV: The Ritual, The Big Questions, The Brain Dump and The Weekly Plan. The others are there for the weeks they'd help.
My printer cut off the border.
The thin outer border can clip on some printers. Leave it, because your writing space starts well inside the border.
Can I print extra copies, or share it?
Print as many copies as you like for yourself. It's licensed for personal use only, so please don't share the files or resell them.
Can I get a refund?
Because this is an instant digital download, there are no refunds.
Is this the same as your Notion ecosystem?
No, but you can look at the Sanctum here.
Something's wrong with my files.
Email laurkenkendallphoto@gmail.com with the page and your paper size, and I'll help.
